ouchy.

Red Panda
I went to fencing practice all motivated to get a good workout. I arrived on time, stretched, warmed up, stepped onto the field... and our first exchange caused a mild twinge in my right trapezius. We fenced for about fifteen minutes while the twinge grew to an intermittent complaint. I took a short break, then stepped out to fight Nomad. I lasted all of 10 minutes before I realized I was being really stupid. I stopped fencing for the day.

Ice, ibuprofen, and soon a heating pad. I hope this is just a result of me sleeping on it funny, or something, and not anything that will interfere with me fencing from sunup til sundown for a week at Pennsic.

Sigh. I'm too young for my body to be this belligerent.

Odd question, but what kind of pillow do you sleep on? With you re-twinging your traps & then your shoulder, have you ever considered using a cervical roll?

I use an old, flattish, foam pillow that I've had for years. Every time I try a new pillow, it seems too thick (unless it's a down pillow, in which case it squishes down to nothing) and I wake up sore. Would you recommend a cervical pillow? They've always looked uncomfortably large to me, but I've never tried one.

Let me leave one of my supply catalogs @ [info]darthgm's for you this weekend. It should have a few options for you. I know what you mean by the bulkiness. But there are a huge variety out these days which will serve to stabilive your neck while sleeping. Helps keep down the stress on the traps and erectors by sleeping at an odd angle.
